The Grief Bulletin Series
These publications are sent over the next 13 months to help you understand grief. Titles include: What Is Grief?; Feelings of Grief; Coping with Grief; Different Bonds, Different Grief; After the First Year; and Coping with the Holidays. You will also receive the bi-monthly newsletter, Pathways. There are other grief publications available to hospice families.
Good Mourning Coffee Hour This grief education program is offered on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at the Hospice Center on Route 11 in Potsdam from 10:30 - 11:30 am. This program offers information and ideas for coping with loss. Open to friends too.
Grief Counseling (Hospice Families only)
Hospice offers short-term grief counseling to Hospice families. Referrals to professional therapists in the St. Lawrence Valley area are also available.
Six-Month Phone Contact (Hospice Families only)
A Hospice Bereavement Volunteer will contact the primary bereavement contact for each Hospice family during the sixth month of bereavement to offer support and answer questions.
Grief Materials for and about Children
Each library in St. Lawrence County has a collection of grief books for children. A grant from the Ronald McDonald Charities of Northern New York funded this collection. A detailed bibliography of these titles is available in each public library or from Hospice Bereavement Services. Additional grief information for grieving children is available through Hospice.
Grief Materials for and about Teens
Each library in St. Lawrence County also has a collection of grief books for teens funded by a grant from the Stewart's Shop. A bibliography of these materials is available at your local library or through Hospice.
